6 boundaries in an over: Lucknow Super Giants pacer taken to the cleaners by Sri Lanka sensation [WATCH]

The incident happened in the fourth over of the Sri Lanka innings.

During the ongoing first of the three-match Sri Lanka vs West Indies T20I series, a Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer was taken to the cleaners by Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka.

Shamar Joseph, who was roped in by LSG ahead of last season’s Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) for INR 3 crore as a replacement for Mark Wood, faced a fiery onslaught from the Sri Lankan sensation.

The incident happened in the fourth over of the Sri Lanka innings. Nissanka started by coming down the track and swiping across, which was followed by another similar shot, this time over the extra cover fielder.

Shamar Joseph bowled a wide on the next delivery and in a bid to come back stronger, he hit the deck hard in the next legal ball but Nissanka managed to get a top edge on the attempted pull and it flew over the keeper’s head for a boundary.

On the fourth ball, Nissanka once again came down the track, while the fifth delivery was well anticipated by the opener. He sat back in the crease and pulled the back of a length delivery to the boundary.

The final delivery, width was on offer, and that was flayed away past backward point and short third man for another four as 25 runs came from the over.

Nissanka was eventually dismissed in the 16th over by Alzarri Joseph on 54 (49).

Speaking about the match, Nissanka’s efforts propelled the hosts to a competitive total of 162 for 5 in 20 overs.

Coming to the chase, the Windies have suffered an early setback after losing four wickets in quick succession. At the time of writing this report, the West Indies scorecard read 32 for 4 in 8.1 overs with Sherfane Rutherford and Gudakesh Motie currently at the crease.
