‘Are you playing a Test match?’ – Monty Panesar sledges a struggling Yusuf Pathan in Legends League Cricket

Seeing Yusuf struggle for fluency, Monty couldn’t resist asking whether Yusuf was playing Test cricket.

Monty Panesar and Yusuf Pathan were involved in a healthy banter during the 17th game of Legends League Cricket between Konark Suryas Odisha and Toyam Hyderabad. The banter started when Yusuf Pathan seemed struggling to get going with the willow.

As Panesar bowled a length delivery on the stumps, Pathan went on the back foot and defended it straight to covers. Seeing him struggle for fluency, Monty couldn’t resist asking whether Yusuf was playing Test cricket.

“Are you playing a Test match?” asked Monty, to which Yusuf cheekily replied, “How many wickets you have?” The banter kept going for a few moments, and the two weren’t in the mood to stop anytime soon.

Pathan eventually got out after a rough knock, scoring seven runs in 18 deliveries, at an abysmal strike rate of 38.88. He never kept going and looked out of touch, and his team never got the required momentum after batting first in Jammu.

Konark Suryas Odisha registered 100/9 in their 20 overs

After batting first, Konark Suryas Odisha could only reach 100/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Barring Dilshan Munaweera, who scored 51 runs in 51 deliveries, no other batter kept going at any stage and lost their wickets after playing too many dot balls.

The second-best score was of Jesse Ryder, who made 11 runs in 15 deliveries, showing how poor KSO were with the bat. For Toyam Hyderabad, Bipul Sharma and Ravi Jangid snared two wickets each, whereas four other batters dismissed a batter each to restrict KSO to a below-par total.

During the chase, Toyam Hyderabad didn’t get the best of the starts, for they lost two wickets in the fifth over. Dilshan Munaweera, who starred with the bat and played like a lone warrior, also took responsibility with the ball and snared both wickets in the same over to apply some pressure on the opponent.

Later, Munaweera also dismissed Shaun Marsh on a score of 3. They will need more wickets in quick succession to put the opponent under the pump and make this match interesting further in a low chase.
