Watch: MS Dhoni goes over to put an arm around Mukesh Choudhary after he drops two catches

CX Staff Writer

While the rest of the team was busy celebrating Shahbaz's dismissal, Dhoni made sure he consoled the youngster who was having a tough day on the field.

Chennai Super Kings pacer Mukesh Choudhary isn’t having a great time in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has played four matches so far and has picked only three wickets conceding runs at an economy of 11.1. But the franchise is backing him to come good. He did swing the new ball and dismissed Virat Kohli on Tuesday (April 12) but had a forgettable outing in the field dropping two catches.

Despite picking early wickets in the defence of 217, RCB batters kept hitting boundaries to keep the team in the hunt. With wickets being the need of the hour, Dwayne Bravo was introduced into the attack in the 12th over. He created a chance soon and should’ve had Suyash Prabhudessai only for Mukesh to drop the catch at deep mid-wicket.

It didn’t end here for the left-arm seamer. In the 15th over when Maheesh Theekshana was bowling, CSK should’ve closed the game out with Dinesh Karthik skying one in the air. Once again, Mukesh was under the ball and did well to get settled under it. But somehow, he once again dropped the catch much to the disappointment of CSK fans.

It was evident that he was under a lot of pressure then. Much to his relief, CSK struck off the very next delivery with Shahbaz Ahmed getting castled. While the rest of the team was busy celebrating the dismissal, MS Dhoni took this opportunity to console the youngster and had a brief chat with him. He also put an arm around him to make him comfortable and was seen saying something to him.

Here’s the video:

With the ball, despite picking up Kohli’s prized wicket, Mukesh Choudhary was taken apart for 40 runs in his three overs. He is certainly struggling with his bowling and fielding but CSK are backing him to come good as he plays more games. It remains to be seen if the youngster steps up to the challenge and improves in both aspects of the game to help the four-time champions churn more wins in the upcoming games.
