Pat Cummins hit four sixes and two fours in the over from Daniel Sams to win the KKR v MI game for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2022
Pat Cummins produced an incredible heist to turn around a game remarkably for Kolkata Knight Riders against Mumbai Indians in Pune on Wednesday. The Australia, who had just stepped into the XI for this match, took a liking to Mumbai Indians yet again, and slammed a 14-ball fifty to win the match.
The fastest fifty in the IPL came after Cummins walked in to bat in the 14th over and took off against Tymal Mills, Jasprit Bumrah and Daniel Sams. After racing to 22 off just 8 balls against Mills and Bumrah, Cummins got an over from Daniel Sams and went berserk.
Four sixes and two fours followed as KKR moved from a tricky position to win the game with four overs to spare. The 35 runs off the over turned out to be the third-most ever scored in an over in the IPL.
“For everyone other than Pat (Cummins), the pitch looked very tricky. Got to give it to Pat for that kind of a knock on a pitch that was actually tricky to bat on,” Venkatesh Iyer said after the game while Ravi Shastri chose to go more rogue, drawing an interesting analogy.
“It’s like someone’s giving you a chocolate and you saying thaaaan…before you can say thank you it’s back in the other guy’s mouth and he’s saying thank you,” Shastri said.
Cummins has done it before as well for Kolkata Knight Riders against Mumbai Indians. In fact, in each of his matches against MI, Cummins has found a way to make a mark.
