Shaheen Afridi emulates MS Dhoni’s signature helicopter shot during AUS vs PAK 3rd T20I [WATCH]

Dhoni's iconic shot has been adopted by multiple cricketers.

Former India skipper MS Dhoni, apart from leading India to three ICC titles, has also garnered a reputation for being one of the best finishers of the game.

Known for his array of unorthodox shots, the one that stood out and became iconic was his signature helicopter shot. It has since been adopted by multiple cricketers and a similar incident occurred earlier today.

During the recent AUS vs PAK 3rd T20I, Pakistan speedster Shaheen Afridi turned into a left-handed MS Dhoni and emulated the shot off a delivery from Aaron Hardie.

On the fifth ball of the 16th over of Pakistan’s innings which was a free hit, Hardie delivered a near-perfect yorker on the leg side. Shaheen skillfully got under the ball, executing a brilliant helicopter shot. The ball raced towards the mid-wicket boundary, crossing the ropes for a well-timed four.

Check the video below.

Shaheen Afridi eventually scored 16 runs off 12 balls, comprising two boundaries and a maximum.

Pakistan blown away by Australia; suffers 3-0 series whitewash

Speaking about the match, Pakistan struggled to put up a competitive total, managing only 117 runs before being bowled out in 18.1 overs. Babar Azam was the lone bright spot with a 41-run knock off 28 balls, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to contribute meaningfully. Stand-in captain Agha Salman, replacing Mohammad Rizwan, fell short of expectations, and the team collapsed from 61/1 to being all out in quick succession.

Aaron Hardie delivered an impressive performance with the ball, claiming 3/21. Spencer Johnson and Adam Zampa chipped in with two wickets each, while Xavier Bartlett and Spencer Johnson each took one wicket to complete the dismantling.

Chasing a trivial target, the Aussies wrapped up the chase with 52 balls still to spare. Although they lost opener Matt Short cheaply for 2, Pakistan could barely make anymore dent with only two more scalps (Jake Fraser-McGurk & Josh Inglis) before Marcu Stoinis took the hosts over the finishing line, remaining unbeaten on 61* to complete a 3-0 whitewash.
