In a thrilling encounter at the Hong Kong Sixes 2024, India narrowly lost to UAE by just one run in a nail-biting finish. Stuart Binny, the former RCB and RR player, nearly clinched a thrilling victory for India.

UAE put up a strong total of 130/5 in their six overs. In response, India stumbled early, losing Bharat Chipli and Manoj Tiwary cheaply. Captain Robin Uthappa revived the innings with a blazing 43 off just 10 balls, bringing India to 99/3 after five overs.

With 32 needed off the final over, Stuart Binny was on strike. Binny started with a boundary, then after a wide, unleashed four consecutive sixes, leaving India needing just three runs from the last ball. However, he missed the final delivery, and in an attempt to complete two runs, was run out, resulting in a heartbreaking one-run loss for India.

Stuart Binny has played 95 matches in the IPL, scoring a total of 880 runs. He has represented RCB and RR, and also appeared in one match for MI.

India’s Hong Kong Sixes Campaign so far

India was placed in Pool C alongside Pakistan and UAE in the Hong Kong Sixes 2024. In their opening match against Pakistan, India posted a solid total of 119/2 in their six overs. However, Pakistan responded with an impressive chase, reaching the target within five overs without losing a wicket.

In the bowl-out round, a format where each bowler must bowl an over, India faced England and New Zealand. They narrowly lost to England by 15 runs, unable to chase down a target of 121. Additionally, they lost to New Zealand by 44 runs, falling short while trying to chase 147.
