Travis Head returned for South Australia in the Sheffield Shield round, facing off against Nathan Lyon’s New South Wales side and the southpaw treated the fans to something special in his short stay in the middle.
Head made just 30 runs off 44 balls in the first innings after walking in to bat at No.4. But the stay included two massive sixes, one of which ended up in the snake pits adjacent to the Sydney Olympic Park.

Head is awaiting the birth of his second child and this appearance could be his only one in the Shield before the Test summer begins in November against India.
Travis Head’s role has been up for debate in the Test side with him touted as one of the options to partner Usman Khawaja at the top. In fact, Khawaja himself voiced his support for Head to partner him with Steve Smith moving down the order.
“At the end of the day, it is a decision for the selectors,” Khawaja told Fox Cricket. “But if you have me opening, Labuschagne three, Smith four … I feel like Travis Head might be best suited.”
