Virat got out after scoring just one run in the 1st innings of the second Test

Virat Kohli had a tough time in the 1st innings of the second Test against New Zealand in Pune. He got out after scoring just one run, gets cleaned up by a full toss from Mitchell Santner.

India started the day with a score of 16-1, with Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaswal batting together. They played carefully and helped India reach 50 runs before Gill was out LBW by Santner. Everyone was excited to see how Virat Kohli would play, but he could only make 1 run this time as he got out on a full toss. Kohli looked really sad as he walked back to the dressing room after getting out.

Currently India are 103-7

At the time of writing this report, India are 103-7, with Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar at the crease. On the first day, India lost Rohit Sharma for a duck, and in day 2, in the morning session, Shubman Gill got out for 30 runs while Virat Kohli only managed to score 1. Wickets fell quickly, with Yashasvi Jaiswal also dismissed for 30 runs. Other players like Rishabh Pant, Sarfaraz Khan, and Ravichandran Ashwin got out on a low score as well. Now, Jadeja and Sundar are working together to build a partnership, but India still trails by 156 runs.

India really needs to win the second Test to avoid losing the series. They are also trying to earn important points for the World Test Championship (WTC) and improve their winning percentage as well. Losing the first Test has made it harder for India to reach the WTC final. They need to win both Tests against New Zealand to keep their hopes alive. Plus, they haven’t lost a home series since 2012, so it’s important for them to win this test match.

As a passionate cricket fan I have been watching the game for over 20 years, and it has been a constant part of my life for as long as I can remember. From childhood, I enjoyed following matches and players, and over time that passion only grew stronger. What began as admiration for the sport slowly turned into a deeper connection, where I found joy in expressing my thoughts through writing. For me, writing about cricket feels natural. It doesn’t feel like work, but rather a reflection of the love I have for the game that has always been close to my heart.
