In an interesting moment grabbing the fans’ attention, left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya got his rampaging brother Hardik Pandya out caught in the IPL 2022 on Monday (March 27).
Playing for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Krunal bagged the prized scalp of Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Hardik after his attempted big shot went only as far as the mid-off fielder.
Looking to disturb his brother’s rhythm with a maximum, Hardik smashed his full-pitched delivery towards the mid-off region where perennially safe Manish Pandey took a comfortable catch.
It seemed as if Krunal Pandya had pre-judged Hardik’s intent, as he sent the ball down slower than the batter preempted, leading to a miscued hit with insignificant elevation.

The dismissal came on the first ball of the 11th over in the Titans’ run-chase. Bowling to Hardik at a critical stage of the game, Krunal Pandya got the big-hitting batter out caught off a slower ball. While the length was right to attempt a bit hit – near the arc – the pace on the ball was such that even the strong-built Hardik couldn’t get proper connection.
Till that point, Hardik had batted in million-dollar form for his 33 off 27 balls, featuring 5 fours and 1 six. But he was done in by his brother’s skill and smarts on the 28th delivery of his stay after taking Titans to 72/2 in their quest to chase down LSG’s 158/6.

Up until then, it was an impressive comeback to competitive cricket for Hardik since the end of the T20 World Cup last year. However, some sharp tactics from Krunal Pandya led to a mistimed stroke for the batter and forced him to make the long walk back.
Parting ways with Mumbai Indians (MI) after the IPL 2021, this was the very first time in the league’s history that the Pandya duo came up against each other. Krunal bowled a superb spell on the night, giving away just 17 runs off his four overs with the big wicket of Hardik.
