WATCH: Nic Maddinson unleashes left-arm ‘Jasprit Bumrah’ in the Shield final

The concluding day of the Sheffield Shield final played in Perth saw Victorian batter Nic Maddinson run into bowl with the left-arm version of India’s ace quick Jasprit Bumrah.

With the game about to end in a draw and Western Australia set to be declared winners with a huge lead, the visiting team threw the ball to their part-timer, who amusingly gave Bumrah’s unique and unorthodox action a left-arm twist.

Getting a rare opportunity to go through the delivery stride, the WA middle-order batter decided to have some fun with the cricket ball in hand and left those watching in splits when he tried to mimic the great Indian fast-bowler.

In a five-over burst delivered towards the close of finish on Day 5 of the summer’s final senior domestic fixture, Nic Maddinson entertained the fans and even the commentators, who couldn’t help but laugh as he did a Bumrah.

Nic Maddinson did his own version of Jasprit Bumrah in the Shield final.

Nic Maddinson gives the world the left-arm Jasprit Bumrah

The cricket.com.au made it a point to capture the whole episode in a viral clip over social media, where Nic Maddinson can be seen running into bowl with a left-arm version of Bumrah’s famous bowling action in the Sheffield Shield final.

Maddinson was bowling the 161st over of WA’s third-innings of the first-class encounter in Perth. Bowling to right-hander Aaron Hardie when he was 168 not out, the medium quick operating from the ‘over-the-wicket’ angle for the left-armer sent the ball wide outside the off-stump.

Seeing the Victorian get into his own version of Bumrah, the commentators immediately erupted in laughter and even keeper Sam Harper and the rest of the fielding unit couldn’t help but smirk at the attempt.

The clip attracted amusing reactions from fans all over the cricketing world, with many left shocked and in disbelief over what their eyes had just seen.

Posted early morning by Indian standards time, the clip hasn’t yet reached the man himself. But it would be great to see a reaction from Bumrah over Maddinson’s hilarious attempt at mimicking him.
