“I never told this story, from today everyone will know. I never shared this. So there was a player who was very drunk, I won’t say his name...." - Yuzvendra Chahal narrates horrific experience at Mumbai Indians

Yuzvendra Chahal is playing for the Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The leg-spinner had a fruitful stint with RCB in the last few years but the franchise didn’t retain him ahead of the mega auction. However, not many are aware that Chahal was part of the Mumbai Indians before RCB during the 2013 season.

The leg-spinner made his IPL debut while playing for MI only in the same season. However, on Thursday (April 7), he went on to describe a horrific incident that happened with him during his stint with the now five-time champions.

He shared his experience while speaking to Ravi Ashwin in a video shared by Rajasthan Royals. Chahal revealed that one of the MI players (he didn’t take the name) was very drunk during a get-together after the match in Bangalore.

The player called the then young Chahal towards him and suddenly hung him on the balcony. The leg-spinner was in a strife on the 15th floor of the building. Thankfully, some people around in the party noticed it and saved him.

Chahal also stated that even the slightest of mistakes would’ve led to him falling down. He also said that it was learning for him to behave responsibly off the field as well.

“I never told this story, from today everyone will know. I never shared this. This dates back to 2013 when I was with Mumbai Indians we had a match in Bangalore. There was a get-together after that. So there was a player who was very drunk, I won’t say his name. He was very drunk, he was looking at me for a long time and he just called me and he took me outside and he hung me on the balcony.

“And my hands were around him, like this (behind the neck). Had I lost my grip, I was on the 15th floor. Suddenly many people who were there came and they handled it. I kind of fainted, they gave me water. Then I realized how responsible we need to be when we go anywhere. So this was one incident where I felt I made a narrow escape. Had there been slightest of mistakes, I would’ve fallen down,” Chahal said recalling the experience.
