Usually calm GT skipper Hardik Pandya lost his cool at Mohammad Shami's insipid fielding effort in the match against SRH.

In a rare outburst on the field as Gujarat Titans (GT) captain, Hardik Pandya was seen shouting at his team's pacer Mohammed Shami after he failed to attempt a catch at the boundary line during Monday (April 11) night's IPL 2022 game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Hardik unleashed his anger at Shami for making no attempt to catch what should've been a straightforward grab had he gone for it.

The pacer was being a boundary rider at the deep-third region, where rather than going at the ball, he took a few steps back to collect the ball on first bounce.

Having induced a mistimed scoop shot from SRH batter Rahul Tripathi straight at his fielder, Hardik Pandya lost his cool seeing Shami then misjudge the moment so badly and leave his skipper ruing a missed opportunity.

The incident is from the last ball of the 13th over in the SRH run-chase. Defending a low-key target of 163 on a flat pitch, GT skipper Hardik Pandya was desperately eyeing a breakthrough with SRH well-placed at 97/1 at that stage.

Banging the ball in at the good length region, Hardik got the in-form Tripathi playing exactly where he wanted. The batter tried to scoop the ball for a boundary but would've had the heart in his mouth the moments later as he saw he had played the ball straight towards the deep-third fielder.

Looking gone for all money, Tripathi, however, got saved after a shocking fielding effort from Shami. Despite enough time to run in and grab the ball at a comfortable height, the Titans' quick let the ball bounce at him in a horrible misjudgment.

Had Shami gone for the catch, it would've been a straightforward grab. Instead, he retrieved a few steps from his original position and let the ball bounce into his hands. This didn't please Hardik Pandya at all, as he instantly shouted at Shami.

The Titans skipper was deeply disappointed by the effort from his fielder and let him know about it through an animated discussion at the start of the following over.
