SRH went into the IPL 2025 auction with clear-cut plans.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) went into the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) auction with clear-cut plans after having retained the core group around which the team would be formed.
They focussed mainly on procuring a good mix of Indian talents, with a strong overseas roster already retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
Led by Aussie all-rounder Pat Cummins, let’s take a look at the first 4 choices of overseas players to feature in the SRH playing XI for IPL 2025.

Australian all-rounder and team skipper Pat Cummins will undoubtedly be the first overseas pick of the franchise. He joined the franchise last year during the mini-auction for a record-fee of INR 20.5 crore and guided the team to the final where they lost to eventual winners Kolkata Knight Riders.
Cummins was further retained ahead of the IPL 2025 auction for INR 18 crores and will be an integral part of SRH’s plans in the upcoming season.
Explosive Aussie opener Travis Head is another Aussie star who is an automatic pick in the SRH lineup. Much like Cummins, Head too was bought during the IPL 2024 auction and SRH decided to stick with him by retaining him for INR 14 crores.
The dynamic left-hander was one of the chief architects of SRH’s batting carnage last season where they posted the highest-ever team total twice, shattering their own record. Moreover, Head finished as the top scorer for SRH with a total tally of 567 runs, including one century and four fifties while striking at a blistering rate of 191.55.
The Proteas wicketkeeper-batter has proven his utility to SRH and the franchise decided to repay him by making Klaasen the most expensive retention across all teams for a staggering INR 23 crores.
Klaasen can play the finisher’s role to perfection and has the ability to single-handedly change the outcome of the game with his incessant hitting. Klaasen packs incredible firepower in the SRH middle order and the franchise will once again depend on him heavily to deliver the goods.
Another Australian, Adam Zampa takes the final overseas spot available. Interestingly, he is the only player on this list who was bought at the IPL 2025 auction. Zampa is a skilful spinner capable of outfoxing even the best batters and coupled with his consistency and variations, it makes the 32-year-old a lethal wicket-taking option.
Zampa is a proven contender in the IPL and his best figures of 6/19 came while playing for SRH back in 2016. Since making his debut in 2016, Zampa has participated in 14 matches and claimed 21 wickets with an impressive average of 17.62.
