As the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) head into the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Playoffs, many of the overseas players from their roster will be unavailable due to National duties. They will miss the services of their English opener. The former Delhi Capitals player Tim Seifert has been named as Jacob Bethell replacement.
RCB are slated to play two more league games ahead of the Playoffs. Their next match is against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 23, followed by their Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) clash on May 27. Bethell, however, will be unavailable post their SRH game.

Tim Seifert has amassed 1,540 runs in 66 T20Is for New Zealand. He is set to join RCB for INR 2 crore. Despite his international experience, Seifert has only featured in three IPL matches so far, with his last appearance coming in 2022 for the Delhi Capitals.
He is expected to be available for selection starting May 24. However, his arrival may be delayed as he is currently participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, representing the Karachi Kings. The Kings have reached the playoffs and are scheduled to play the Eliminator on May 22. If they are eliminated at that stage, Seifert is likely to reach India in time to join the RCB squad as planned.
On the other hand, if Karachi Kings advance to the final on May 25, Seifert would remain with the team. This could result in him missing RCB’s final group-stage game against Lucknow Super Giants on May 27.
