The much-anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auctions will take place at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday.

The IPL auction 2024 will start at 1:00 PM IST and will be available on live streaming and telecast in India.

A total of 333 cricketers are set to go under the hammer for IPL season 17. As many as 214 are Indians while 119 are overseas players. However, only 77 slots, including 30 for foreign players, are left to be filled at the mini IPL auction among 10 teams.

While all 10 teams would be striving to enhance the strength of their current squads, two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders have the most vacant slots at 12. Each team can have a maximum of 25 players in their squad.

Meanwhile, 2022 IPL champions Gujarat Titans, who traded their last season’s captain Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians, have the biggest purse among the 10 teams with ₹38.15 crore. Lucknow Super Giants have the lowest purse balance at ₹13.15 crore.

The highest reserve price for a player is ₹2 crore. A total of 23 players, including ODI World Cup winners Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Steve Smith along with Harshal Patel and Shardul Thakur are listed at the highest value. Pat Cummins and Travis Head are expected to draw huge bids.

Players can have their base prices listed at  ₹1.5 crores, ₹1 crore, ₹75 lakh, ₹50 lakh,  ₹40 lakh, ₹30 lakh and ₹20 lakh. As many as 13 players are in the ₹1.5 crore price bracket. Unsold players can re-enter the auction if franchises submit their names for further rounds.

Punjab Kings bought English all-rounder Sam Curran for a record ₹18.5 crore last year. While Sam Curran has been retained by Punjab Kings, Cameron Green, bought by Mumbai Indians for ₹17.5 last year, was traded to Royal Challengers Bangalore.

One has to keep an eye out for promising young talents as well - Rachin Ravindra and Azmatullah Omarzai - who did exceedingly well in the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023.
