Australia Under-19 player Harjas Singh has eclipsed the highest individual List A score put up by Tamil Nadu batter Narayan Jagadeesan with his whirlwind triple hundred against the Sydney Cricket Club. Previously, Jagadeesan had achieved this feat with his sublime 277 against Arunachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in November 2022.
The Western Suburbs’ No.3 batter started off his blazing innings in the 11th over of the game. After putting up his century in the 35th over, the 20-year-old went on to rapidly score 214 runs in the subsequent 67 deliveries. His astonishing 314-run knock off just 141 balls powered the team to post 483/5, which is the highest ever limited-overs total in the premier first-grade history in Australia.
Notably, the youngster has whacked a record 35 over-boundaries while striking at a pulsating rate of 228.14 on his way to achieving this unique milestone. Previously, he had also scored a match-winning half-century (55) against the reigning champions, India, in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2024 Final. His 104 runs in seven matches of the tournament, including the solitary fifty-plus knock in the summit clash, guided the Aussies to their fourth Under-19 title.

On the other hand, the India Under-19 team is also looking to register a whitewash over the Australia Under-19 in the ongoing multi-format series. Notably, Harjas is not part of the hosts’ squad for the series against India, while two other Indian-origin players, named Aryan Sharma and Yash Deshmukh, are representing the Australia Under-19.
However, the visitors have already claimed the three-match Youth ODI series with a dominating scoreline of 0-3. Following this, the Indian youngsters have also continued a similar momentum in the red-ball series opener. Two magnificent tons from the 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi (113) and Vedant Trivedi (140) starred in India’s mammoth first innings total of 428.
Deepesh Devendran’s stunning eight-wicket haul, coupled with Kishan Kumar’s fifer, ensured a 0-1 lead for Ayush Mhatre and Co. After thrashing the hosts by an innings and 58 runs in the previous match, the two sides will once again face each other in the final fixture of the series, starting on October 7 in Mackay.
