A conversation between Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik dating back summer of 2021 is resurfacing on social media.

Long before he actually broke the door reopen for India selection with success in the ongoing T20I series versus South Africa, Dinesh Karthik had his heartening comeback prophesied by his longstanding friend and now all-format India skipper Rohit Sharma.

A conversation dating back to June last year is resurfacing over social media, where Rohit had reminded Karthik there is still cricket left inside him. The elegant India batter made his comments seeing Karthik post a click of him at the sidelines of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021 final against New Zealand.

Out on a commentary stint with Sky Sports, Karthik posted a picture of his on Instagram while the WTC final witnessed one of the multiple rain halts it had in Southampton. As players went off, Rohit Sharma took to social media and made an amusing comment on his friend's picture, before Karthik gave him a confident response.

Rohit told his friend: "You still have some cricket left. FYI!". To this, Karthik said: "Don't ever doubt that sham". A screengrab of the heartening conversation between the duo is resurfacing over social media these past few days, with Rohit making a point to remind Karthik he still has it in him to make an India comeback, while the latter reinforces his desire to achieve the same.

As part of the commentary and broadcasting team for Sky Sports through the 2021 English summer, Karthik also had one-on-one interviews with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. In the one with Rohit, viewers could genuinely feel a friendship vibe between the two cricketers, besides a sense of great respect. Interestingly, Karthik and Rohit are the only two active Indian internationals from their victorius 2007 T20 World Cup campaign in South Africa. Karthik was also a key part of the Mumbai Indians setup, that lifted its first ever IPL title under Rohit's leadership in 2013.

Rohit would be the most delighted for Karthik today, as his words have come to fruition and the veteran wicketkeeper-batter has made an incredible comeback with the bat.

Karthik has been in scintillating form since the start of IPL 2022 for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and blasted a match-winning fifty for India in a series-levelling T20I win in Rajkot against South Africa.
