Shivam Dube played an outstanding innings of 95 not out off 46 balls for CSK in their league-stage IPL 2022 game versus Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)..
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) allrounder Shivam Dube played a spectacular knock in his team’s IPL 2022 league-stage encounter against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) this Tuesday (April 12).
Walking in at No.4 with CSK reeling at 36/2 near the end of the 7th over, the left-hand batter played an outstanding knock of 95 not out off just 46 deliveries, hitting 5 fours and 8 sixes.
Playing on his home ground, the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai, the 28-year-old perfectly fulfilled the job handed to him by the CSK think-tank, taking the game back to RCB from a position of strife.
A calm and composed personality, Shivam Dube unleashed the beast inside him with bat in hand and went on a six-hitting spree to push CSK’s score to a gigantic 216/4.
A comparison made by former Australia player Matthew Hayden between Shivam Dube and India’s World Cup hero and white-ball great Yuvraj Singh attracted criticism and naysaying over social media.
But through his innings, the left-hander evoked Yuvraj at his very best, playing a mirror-image stroke for six from his legendary innings against England in the 2007 T20 World Cup.

Yuvraj famously hit Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over. One of his sixes arrived off a full-toss bowled wide outside the off-stump, which he hammered through the deep cover region for the left-hander.

In a similar hit to the one that Yuvraj played off Broad on the fourth ball of his legacy-defining over, Shivam Dube got RCB pacer Aakash Deep’s full-toss outside off sailing over the ropes. The left-hander made a perfectly clean connection on his stroke and left those watching in awe over the sheer quality of the hit.

Coincidentally, Dube’s six also arrived on the fourth ball of the over. Presumably attempting a wide yorker, Deep could only bowl a skier outside off-stump, which was perfect fooder to Dube’s thumping shot over the vacant deep cover boundary.
It was one of the best shots of Dube’s glittery batting effort for CSK as he missed his maiden IPL century by just one maximum but ensured his team reaches over the 200-mark in their quest to pull off their maiden victory for the season.
