Sarfaraz Khan reached his latest Ranji Trophy hundred with a spectacular upper-cut for six in Alur, Karnataka.
Returning to Mumbai team with a bang, Sarfaraz Khan has rallied on to produce one of the most dominant run in first-class cricket since the start of the 2019-20 domestic season.
The baby-faced right-hand batter has been tormenting Ranji attacks, nailing one century after the other in India’s premier first-class competition.
Khan has taken his red-ball game to another level over the past 2 years with six hundreds in his last 13 first-class encounters for Mumbai, including two double centuries and a best of 301 not out.
At the age of only 24, the youngster averages a jaw-dropping 80.42 in first-class cricket after 33 innings with 2,252 runs. At a minimum of 2,000 runs, only Sir Don Bradman in the history of first-class cricket has averaged higher than Sarfaraz Khan.
Sarfaraz Khan gets another Ranji hundred under his belt
On Tuesday (June 6), Sarfaraz Khan reached yet another century to his name in the Ranji Trophy. The right-hander blazed his willow for one more hundred at the start of the quarterfinal round against Uttarakhand in Karnataka.
Khan took the hapless Uttrakhand attack to all corners of the scenic ground in Alur, eventually finishing with a well compiled 153 off 205 deliveries, including 14 fours and 4 sixes.
The batter retained his explosive ways throughout the innings, going at a strike-rate of 74.63, nearly similar to his career first-class strike-rate of 71.76.

An explosive streak about Khan’s game was visible even in the way he reached his hundred, playing a Tendulkaresque upper-cut for six over the deep-third fielder. The moment can be seen in the clip below from 1:49 onwards.
As Sarfaraz Khan raised his bat and roared in celebrations towards the Mumbai dressing room, his younger brother Musheer unfurled a Shikhar Dhawan style leg-thumping celebration in all the joy, adding to the beauty of the moment.
As Mumbai look set to beat Uttarakhand and qualify for the semis, Khan will be hoping to continue his rich vein of form throughout the knock-out stage and break the door of India selection at the Test level going forward.
