Ajinkya Rahane has been appointed as KKR captain for IPL 2025, with Venkatesh Iyer named as his deputy.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have appointed former West Indies all-rounder Ottis Gibson as an assistant coach for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Gibson will join a strong support staff. It includes team mentor Dwayne Bravo, head coach Chandrakant Pandit, bowling coach Bharat Arun, spin-bowling coach Carl Crowe, and others.
He replaced Ryan ten Doeschate, who departed last year with Gautam Gambhir and batting coach Abhishek Nayar to take up roles with the India men’s team.
From 1995 to 1999, Gibson had a brief international playing career. He was appointed as the England men’s bowling coach in 2007 while still an active cricketer. After transitioning to a full-time coaching role, Gibson has served as head coach for the men’s teams of West Indies and South Africa. He also had a second stint as England’s bowling coach and worked in the same role with the Bangladesh men’s team. Additionally, Gibson was part of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and Yorkshire set-ups too.
