Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer Harshal Patel is not in the team’s playing XI for their IPL 2025 match against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Hyderabad on Sunday. This is the first match this season which Harshal Patel will be missing.

Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins said during the toss that Harshal Patel has fallen ill, which is why he won’t play the match against Gujarat Titans. Fellow Indian pacer Jaydev Unadkat has replaced Harshal Patel in the playing XI. “Harshal Patel misses as he is ill, Jaydev Unadkat comes in,” Pat Cummins said at the toss.
Harshal Patel played all four of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s matches prior to Sunday’s match against Gujarat Titans. He has taken four wickets, with his best figures of 2/34 coming against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the first match. Sunrisers Hyderabad had acquired the services of Harshal Patel for INR 8 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Harshal Patel’s absence from the Sunrisers Hyderabad playing XI is a significant blow, given the impact he can create in the death overs.

Jaydev Unadkat, on the other hand, joined Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 1 crore. Unadkat had played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024 as well. He played 11 matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad and took eight wickets last season. Unadkat has previously played for several other teams including Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders.
Sunrisers Hyderabad have got off to a forgettable start in IPL 2025. The runners-up of IPL 2924 find themselves in 10th place with just two points from four matches. They began with a 44-run win over Rajasthan Royals in their first game. However, since then, the Pat Cummins-led side have suffered losses to Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders.
