Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer is absent from the playing XI for the IPL 2025 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Kolkata on Wednesday. Batter Manish Pandey has replaced Venkatesh Iyer in the playing XI for Wednesday’s match.

Why is Venkatesh Iyer absent from KKR playing XI vs CSK?
Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Ajinkya Rahane has said that Venkatesh Iyer missed out of the game against Chennai Super Kings as he has got stitches on his hand. Rahane, however, did not elaborate on the nature of Venkatesh Iyer’s injury.
The 30-year-old was doubtful for the Chennai Super Kings clash as he has got injured during Kolkata Knight Riders’ previous match against Rajasthan Royals. He was in pain during the game and called for th physio. Not long after, Venkatesh Iyer was taken off the field.
Venkatesh Iyer’s underwhelming season
Venkatesh Iyer has endured a forgettable season with Kolkata Knight Riders. He has managed to score just 142 runs in 11 matches at a strike-rate of 139.22. This includes just one half-century.

KKR’s playoff hopes hang in balance
Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders’ playoff hopes hang in the balance in IPL 2025. They are in a spot of bother in sixth place with 11 points from as many matches and will need to win each of their remaining games.
Chennai Super Kings on the other hand are already eliminated and lie in 10th place with four points.
