Star Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Andre Russell is reportedly set to hang up his boots from international cricket next week. Currently, the West Indies are hosting Australia and will clash in a five-match T20I series, after their recent 3-0 Test series defeat at home. The 20-over series between the two sides will commence on July 21.

According to a Jamaica Observer report, the Jamaican all-rounder is set to make his final international appearances in the initial two T20I fixtures at his home ground, Sabina Park, in Kingston, Jamaica. Following the first two matches on July 21 and 23, Russell would not feature in the remaining three games of the 50-over series, which will be played in Saint Kitts.
The 37-year-old has been a crucial player for the Windies squad throughout the years. His blazing performances powered the team to their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup victories in 2012 and 2016. The big-hitter has played a total of 140 matches for the Men in Maroon across two white-ball formats of the game.
However, his hard-hitting abilities and a knack of scalping crucial wickets for the team have made him a valuable asset in the shortest format of the game. Though the all-rounder played only one Test in 2010 in Sri Lanka, he continued to represent the West Indies in the limited-over matches. Russell last featured in the first T20I in England in June 2025, where he scored 15 runs and picked up the wicket of Tom Banton.

Russell is set to focus completely on playing franchise cricket after calling it a day in the internationals. The 37-year-old has already appeared in a mammoth 550-plus T20s all over the world. He is only the fourth player to achieve this feat after fellow Windies players Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo and Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik. Moreover, Russell has played over 300 T20 matches across various T20 leagues around the globe.
The list includes the Indian Premier League (IPL), Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Big Bash League (BBL), Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Pakistan Super League (PSL), International League T20 (ILT20) and Major League Cricket (MLC). Notably, among these tournaments, the all-rounder has featured in 100-plus matches in the IPL for KKR and over 50 matches in the CPL for the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR).
The star all-rounder scored 167 runs at a strike rate of 163.73 and bagged eight wickets in the IPL 2025. He also finished off the latest MLC season with 126 runs at a strike rate of 144.82 and 10 wickets at an economy of 9.93 for Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR).
