However, it is now understood that Ishan too is currently injured. He had fallen down a few days ago and had to undergo stitches and currently has a plaster on his left ankle, which now forces the BCCI to look for a different replacement option. An official announcement regarding the same is expected in the coming days.

According to the latest BCCI update, despite the injury, the dynamic left-hander has been cleared to bat according to the team requirements. He will however not keep wickets with Dhruv Jurel set to take over the responsibilities as he did in the last game when Pant suffered an index finger injury.
Speaking about the ENG vs IND 4th Test, the Indian team are batting first and they got off to a good start with a 94-run opening stand from Yashasvi Jaiswal (58) and KL Rahul (46). While Shubman Gill (12) failed to get going, Sai Sudharsan who made a return to the playing XI in Manchester after being dropped following the series opener, capitalised on the chance with a deft fifty (61).
Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur, India’s overnight batters resumed proceedings on Day 2. While Jadeja departed on 20, Shardul continued with Washington Sundar to help the visitors cross the 300-run mark.
With the five-match series on the line, currently trailing 1-2, Shubman Gill & Co have a task cutout for themselves to eke out a win in Manchester and keep their hopes alive for a historic series win. Notably, the Men in Blue haven’t won a Test series on English soil for 18 years, with their last success coming back in 2007.
