Interestingly, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and England talent Jacob Bethell has been handed over the captaincy reins for the Ireland T20Is, slated to start from September 17. In the process, 21-year-old Bethell will now become the youngest-ever England captain, eclipsing Monty Bowden, who held the record so far after leading England in a Test against South Africa in 1989 at 23 years and 144 days old.
On the other hand, 22-year-old fast bowling sensation Sonny Baker has also earned his maiden call-up to the national side and has been included in the squads for South Africa ODIs and Ireland T20Is. Capable of clocking speeds of 90mph, he had previously earned a development contract after impressing with the England Lions last winter. His name has also cropped up as a wildcard pick for the Ashes later this year and Baker will hope to make the most of his latest opportunity.

After being promoted to the top of the Leicester batting order, Rehan Ahmed showcased immense potential, smashing five centuries in just 10 matches. With 760 runs at an impressive average of 50.66, he also currently leads his team’s run-scoring charts.
In the match against Derbyshire, the 21-year-old was unstoppable, claiming 6-51 and 7-93 while also scoring 115 in the first innings. So far in the Championship, he has taken 23 wickets at an outstanding average of 19.
Rehan was also impressive in the T20 Blast this season, amassing 300 runs at an average of 42.85 and a strike rate of 136.98, including two half-centuries.
