The Hong Kong Sixes 2005 champions, India, started their campaign against Pakistan.
The India vs Pakistan handshake saga was a massive point of discussion throughout the three clashes between the arch-rivals in the Asia Cup 2025. Captain Dinesh Karthik also continued a similar approach in the ongoing Hong Kong Sixes 2025. As for the match, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first.
India: Dinesh Karthik (C/WK), Robin Uthappa (WK), Bharat Chipli, Stuart Binny, Abhimanyu Mithun, and Shahbaz Nadeem.
Pakistan: Abbas Afridi (C), Khawaja Nafay (WK), Abdul Samad, Maaz Sadaqat, Shahid Aziz, and Muhammad Shahzad.
During the toss in India’s tournament opener against Pakistan, captain Karthik did not shake hands with the opponent skipper, Abbas Afridi. The fans are now familiar with the visuals as India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav also refused to shake hands with the Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha in the recent subcontinental event.
Apart from the handshake gate, the Asian T20 tournament also witnessed several controversies between the two teams. But on the field, the Men in Blue thoroughly dominated the neighbours, defeating them in all three encounters, including the Asia Cup 2025 Final.

The fans once again saw the predicted outcome of an India vs Pakistan clash as Karthik and Co. carried on the Men in Blue’s dominance in the unconventional six-over league. After being invited to bat first, Robin Uthappa and Bharat Chipli provided a blistering start to India’s innings.
A blazing 11-ball 28 from Uthappa alongside Chipli’s fiery 24 off 13 balls powered them to 50/2 at the halfway stage of the game. Following this, the Indian skipper produced a perfect finishing knock. His 17-run cameo off just six balls propelled the total to 86/4.
In response, Pakistan were also off to a flier, reaching 41/1 in three overs. But the fixture was abandoned due to rain, and India claimed the match by two runs (DLS method). They will next face Kuwait, who lost their campaign opener to Pakistan earlier today, at the same venue on November 8.
