Bumrah would hope this chat clears the air between the two players.
Jasprit Bumrah and Temba Bavuma were seen having a friendly chat following the conclusion of the first Test between India and South Africa in Kolkata. Earlier, Bumrah came under controversy for his comments, which were labelled below the belt across social media platforms, on Day 1.
Following the game’s conclusion, Bumrah shook hands with the other Proteas players, and he had an extended talk with Bavuma while going back. With his arm on Bavuma’s shoulder, the ace pacer had a friendly chat with Bavuma, who was clearly happy with his team’s historic win.
While it’s unclear what was said, Bumrah was probably clearing the misunderstanding with the South Africa captain, who must be hurt after the ‘Bauna’ remark. As was visible, Bavuma took it sportingly and clearly had no grudges against the Indian speedster, or at least didn’t let it show.
Maybe Bumrah didn’t mean it as perceived on the internet, but his comments surely didn’t please anyone, especially the South African section, and rightly so. Bumrah would hope this chat clears the air between the two players and puts an end to any potential controversy in future.
Jasprit Bumrah and Temba Bavuma had great individual outings, as both performed exceptionally well across the game in their respective departments. Bumrah started the proceedings with a magnificent five-wicket haul, taking five wickets for 27 runs in the first innings to restrict South Africa to 159.

Bavuma was dismissed on a low score in the first innings, scoring only three, before coming up with a timely fifty in the second innings. The batter scored an unbeaten 55 while batting at No.4 and helped the Proteas post a competitive total on the board.
His knock eventually made the difference, as India crumbled in the fourth innings and bundled on a mere 93 to let South Africa win by 30 runs. This was South Africa’s first win on Indian soil in 15 years, as Bavuma added another feather to his cap.
It was not an easy pitch to bat, even if Gautam Gambhir thought otherwise, but Bavuma showed his superior technique and temperament to navigate through threats as a batter. Later, he also took a tough catch to remove Axar Patel in the final moments and crash India’s hopes of a jailbreak.
