Bangladesh A won the Super Over.

India A suffered a shocking exit from the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 semi-final clash against Bangladesh A in Doha after squandering a massive reprieve in the cliffhanger clash that ended in a super over.

India A Knocked Out of Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025

Needing four runs off the final ball, Harsh Dubey, facing his first ball, swung the bat with a lot of power, but the ball went straight to long-on, and a misfield and a brain fade from Bangladesh’s skipper Akbar Ali kept India in the contest. The fielder’s throw to the wicket-keeper was wayward, missing the stumps in a crucial run-out attempt as Dubey was sprinting for a second run. The batters seized the opportunity and managed to take a single as they dramatically completed three runs, levelling the scores and taking the game into a super over.

In the super over, Bangladesh’s Ripon Mondol wreaked havoc, claiming two wickets off consecutive balls, leaving India all out for zero.

The start of Bangladesh’s Super Over followed the suit of India’s as they lost Yasir Ali on the very first ball bowled by leg-spinner Suyash Sharma. The dramatic finish came when Suyash’s googly resulted in a wide ball, giving Bangladesh A the win and a place in the final.

Asked to bat first, Bangladesh posted a commendable 194/6 on the board, riding on Habibur Rahman Sohan’s brisk half-century (65 off 46 balls) and explosive finishing touch from SM Meherob (not out 48 off 18). The left-arm pacer bagged two wickets, while others picked one wicket apiece. Vijaykumar Vyshak was the only Indian bowler who failed to pick up a wicket.

In reply, India were off to a flier, racing to the fifty mark off just 3.4 overs, courtesy of Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s 15-ball 38. After Vaibhav’s departure, Priyansh Arya launched the attack, smashing 44 off 23 balls. India’s middle-order batter struggled to clear the boundaries at regular intervals, particularly Nehal Wadhera, who managed 32 off 29 balls at an 11.34 strike rate and remained unbeaten. However, Ashutosh Sharma and Ramandeep Singh’s cameo eventually helped India equal scores, while Jitesh Sharma scored 33 off 23 balls.

Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling and clutch performance from Mondol and Rakibul Hasan in the main game proved decisive, while India’s missed chances and fielding errors cost them dearly in an unforgettable semi-final thriller.

Rippon Mondol earned the well-deserved Player of the Match award for picking three wickets in the match, one in the regulation time and two in the Super Over.
