After the floating rumours about Pakistan boycotting the entire T20 World Cup 2026 in support of Asian counterparts Bangladesh, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has now unfolded a new drama. The Salman Agha-led side will effectively not take the field against arch-rivals India on February 15.
The decision was announced after PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s brief meeting with the Pakistani Prime Minister. However, Pakistan skipper Salman Agha was asked about the same in the press conference after their recent victory against Australia at home.
However, the 32-year-old has an answer ready up his sleeve. He mentioned that the players have no say in the decision, and that they follow the directives from their government and the chairman.

Can the Salman Agha-led Side Make An Impact?
The T20 World Cup 2022 Finalists have surely got the team to challenge most of their opponents. However, with them boycotting their fixture against the Indians, it will effectively put two points down the drain – making it a bit tougher to secure qualification.
This will mean that the Shaheens cannot afford to put a foot wrong against teams like the United States of America (USA), Namibia and the Netherlands. A defeat in any of the three fixtures will put the team under serious pressure.
The team is currently performing really well, and will be brimming with confidence after whitewashing the Australians 3-0 in the T20I series at home. That being said, the World Cup will pose as a different challenge altogether.
