Why Was Brydon Carse Arrested? ECB Investigation Begins
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has started an investigation into England fast bowler Brydon Carse after a video appeared on social media showing him being taken away by police in handcuffs outside a nightclub in Derby.
Carse is part of England’s squad for the first two Tests against Pakistan. However, after he was not picked in the playing XI, he was allowed to play for Durham in the County Championship.
Another Off Field Issue Hits England Cricket
A short video of Brydon Carse was published by the Telegraph. The video shows Carse surrounded by police officers with his hands behind his back in handcuffs. He can also be seen talking to his Durham teammate Matthew Potts. England’s former captain Ben Stokes is also visible in the background.
This is another off field incident involving an England cricketer in the past year.
ECB Investigates Brydon Carse Incident Ahead of ENG vs PAK 2nd Test
The ECB said in a statement that it is investigating the matter and will provide more information when there is an update.
“We are aware of an incident which is reported to have taken place in Derby last night, and are currently investigating. We will provide a further update when possible,” ECB statement.
This could have a big impact on Carse’s career. He was expected to join the England squad for the second Test against Pakistan, which starts on August 27 at Lord’s.
Stokes and Gus Atkinson were both suspended while an investigation was carried out into their celebrations after England’s first Test of the summer against New Zealand. A similar situation could happen with Brydon Carse, as he could also be suspended and dropped from the squad.
Due to injuries and fitness issues, Brydon Carse has not played a Test for England since the Ashes series earlier this year. In total, he has played 14 Test matches and taken 58 wickets.

England Have Been Hit By Several Off Field Issues Over the Past Year
England have faced several off field problems over the past year. During their winter tour, Harry Brook was involved in an incident with a nightclub bouncer in Wellington. The team also came under criticism for drinking during their trip to Noosa in the middle of the Ashes. England eventually lost the Ashes series 4-1 to Australia.
The problems did not stop there. During the summer, Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson were involved in another incident after breaking the team curfew. England went on to lose the series against New Zealand 2-1. Stokes later retired from Test cricket, while Brendon McCullum was removed from his role.
Despite Joe Root, England’s new Test captain, deciding earlier this month to remove the midnight curfew, another incident has now taken place, this time involving Brydon Carse, and it is likely to raise more questions.
Meanwhile, England won the first Test of the series against Pakistan comfortably, beating them by an innings and 103 runs.
