8 Bangladesh Pace Bowlers Who Could Make a Splash at World Cup 2027

The ICC ODI World Cup 2027 is scheduled to take place from October 4 to November 21, 2027, and will feature 14 teams. The tournament will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

One of the teams that has been improving steadily and could pose a strong challenge is Bangladesh. Their squad has plenty of talent, but their pace attack is becoming stronger, with several good options to choose from. With the tournament being played in conditions that could help bowlers, Bangladesh have all bases covered, with extra pace, different variations, and both left-arm and right-arm options.

Bangladesh Pace Bowlers Who Could Make A Splash At World Cup 2027

Here are some of Bangladesh’s pacers who could be key players for the team in the World Cup 2027.

Nahid Rana

Nahid Rana has been one of the best pace-bowling talents that Bangladesh has produced. He is one of their quickest bowlers and regularly clocks speeds above 145 kmph. He made his Test debut in March 2024, followed by his ODI debut in November 2024 and T20I debut in May 2025. He has made an instant impact in all three formats.

Rana is expected to be a vital part of Bangladesh’s pace setup for the World Cup 2027. In 15 matches, he has already picked up 32 wickets and has three five-wicket hauls to his name. He has taken 27 wickets so far this year. In the modern era, where bowlers often go for runs in ODI cricket, Rana’s economy rate of 4.70 is quite impressive.

The only thing Bangladesh will have to focus on is managing his workload.

Taskin Ahmed

Taskin Ahmed is one of the most experienced bowlers in the Bangladesh lineup. A crucial player in all three formats, he has played 94 ODIs and has 137 wickets, which is the fourth highest in Bangladesh’s all-time list. His recent form has also been quite impressive. He has played 11 ODIs in 2026 and has taken at least one wicket in every match.

With the new ball, Taskin has been an important player for Bangladesh and the pacer on whom the skipper can rely. He has helped the team by taking early wickets and giving them a good start. He is expected to be in the playing XI from the start during the World Cup 2027.

Mustafizur Rahman

Mustafizur Rahman is the leading wicket-taker in ODIs among the present Bangladesh team. He has played 124 matches and has 193 wickets to his name. He also has six five-wicket hauls in his ODI career.

Even though he is not preferred in Test cricket and last played a Test match in 2022, Mustafizur has been a regular player in white-ball cricket. He has always been part of the squad and remains one of Bangladesh’s leading pacers. His experience will be very important for the team during the World Cup 2027.

Just like Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana, Mustafizur has also been in good form in 2026. He has picked up 16 wickets in eight matches this year. His bowling will be very important for Bangladesh during the middle overs as well as the death overs.

Hasan Mahmud

A regular in Bangladesh’s Test setup, Hasan Mahmud is yet to produce his best in ODIs. Having made his debut in 2021, he has played only 26 ODIs so far and has taken 33 wickets. He has been picked more often in the Test squad and has not played an ODI so far in 2026.

In the ongoing Test series against Australia, he has been Bangladesh’s best bowler so far. Even though he might not be a straight pick in the playing XI, Bangladesh will keep him in the squad because he could be a vital player for them. The conditions in southern Africa naturally suit his bowling strengths, which could make him an important option during the World Cup 2027.

Ebadot Hossain

Ebadot Hossain is a right-arm pacer who has played only 12 ODIs so far and has taken 22 wickets for Bangladesh. Though he made his ODI debut in 2022, he has not featured in any white-ball match since July 2023. He is mainly a red-ball bowler and has been a decent option in Bangladesh’s Test setup.

However, if Bangladesh face any issues with workload management or fitness and miss out on any of their main pacers, Ebadot Hossain could be considered for the World Cup 2027 squad as a backup or cover option.

Tanzim Hasan Sakib

Like Nahid Rana, Tanzim Hasan Sakib is another speedster in the pace attack. The 23-year-old has played 15 ODIs and has taken 24 wickets. He has not played an ODI this year, but he featured in Bangladesh’s last two ICC events, the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy.

With his extra pace and the conditions in South Africa, where there is usually help for pacers along with good bounce, he could be a good option to have in the squad for the World Cup 2027.

Shoriful Islam

Bangladesh are lucky to have so many options in their pace attack, and another name that could be crucial for them in the World Cup 2027 is Shoriful Islam. The 25-year-old has played 46 ODIs and has taken 73 wickets. This year, he has picked up 15 wickets in just six matches, including his best figures of 6/48, which came against Zimbabwe.

He has delivered for his team whenever they have needed him. Recently, he also took a five-wicket haul against Australia in a Test match when his team were struggling. So, if Bangladesh decide to go with four pacers in the playing XI for the mega event next year, Shoriful Islam is likely to be one of them.

Ripon Mondol

Another young and talented pacer in the ranks is Ripon Mondol. He is yet to make his ODI debut and has played five T20Is for Bangladesh. Ripon has good experience in List A cricket, with 73 wickets in 51 matches.

He will have to wait for his opportunity, but he could be part of the reserves during the World Cup 2027.
