Major IPL 2025 Auction Development as Minimum Bid Amount for Players Increased

The increase in purse from INR 100 Lakhs to INR 120 Lakhs might have played a role in increasing the minimum base price of each player.

In the latest development regarding the IPL 2025 auction coming in, the minimum base price for a player has been revealed. The amount is higher than the previous one, which has come as a massive relief to new players.

According to the new rules, the minimum bid amount for a player is INR 30 Lakhs, a raise from the previous bid amount of INR 20 Lakhs. This means a player will earn at least INR 30 Lakhs from the auction, given he gets picked by a team in the mega auction.

The increase in purse from INR 100 Lakhs to INR 120 Lakhs might have played a role in increasing the minimum base price of each player. It will help rookie and unknown players earn more since they don’t earn much in the auction.

Big players already fetch a massive amount from the auction or by getting retention, but the unknown players need to perform significantly before their stocks rise. Ultimately, young Indian players will be rewarded, which should help the growth of the league overall.

Players to get match fees INR 7.5 Lakhs additionally

Earlier, Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, announced players will get INR 7.5 Lakhs match fee per game from the next season. Further, a player who participates in all league games will get an additional INR 1.05 crores apart from their contracted salary.

Each IPL team will allocate INR 12.60 crores for match fees, which should help players gain financial security. Jay Shah confirmed this via a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

“In a historic move to celebrate consistency and champion outstanding performances in the #IPL, we are thrilled to introduce a match fee of INR 7.5 lakhs per game for our cricketers! A cricketer playing all league matches in a season will get Rs. 1.05 crores in addition to his contracted amount.” posted Jay Shah.

The deadline for the IPL 2025 retention is October 31, and teams are already prepared to announce their retentions. Some big names are expected to come into the auction, for teams might release their big names to plan for the future.
