Will Bangladesh Players Be Available at IPL 2027 Auction?

Will Bangladesh players be available at IPL 2027 auction? It is still unclear whether they will be allowed to play in the IPL next year. There has been uncertainty between the BCCI and BCB because of postponed tours and other issues.

Whether they can register their names in the auction will depend on the decisions of both boards and the situation at that time, as a lot happened in the past year which has affected the cricketing relations between the two boards.

Mustafizur Rahman Issue and Bangladesh T20 World Cup 2026 Boycott

Mustafizur Rahman was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2026 auction for Rs 9.2 crore, making him the most expensive Bangladesh player in IPL history. However, before the season, the BCCI asked KKR to release him due to political tensions between the two countries, which led to a strong reaction from the Bangladesh Cricket Board and authorities in the country.

The issue continued during the T20 World Cup 2026 which was hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Bangladesh who were supposted to play in India wanted their matches to be moved to Sri Lanka due to safety concerns. However, the ICC rejected the request, after which Bangladesh decided not to travel to India and withdrew from the T20 World Cup. Scotland replaced them in the tournament.

Bangladesh vs India Series Could Be Postponed Again

According to ESPNcricinfo, the Bangladesh vs India series has faced a lot of uncertainty and delays over the past year. The tour was first scheduled for August 2025 but was later moved to September 2026.

Bangladesh had announced that India would play three ODIs and three T20Is, but the BCCI did not make any public announcement about the series.

Now, with the series approaching, there are reports that the Bangladesh vs India tour could be postponed again.

Bangladesh Players Who Could Be Targeted in IPL 2027 Auction (if allowed)

Will Bangladesh Players Be Available at IPL 2027 Auction? If relations between the two countries improve and Bangladesh players are allowed to register, there are a few names that teams could look to target.

Nahid Rana

Bowling reguraly at 145+ km/h, Nahid Rana is one of Bangladesh’s biggest assets right now. His express pace and ability to generate bounce make him a difficult bowler to face.

He has also made an impact across all three formats. In T20 cricket, he has played 39 matches and taken 42 wickets so far. If Bangladesh players get clearance to enter the IPL 2027 auction, he could be one of the players teams will look to target.

Hasan Mahmud

Hasan Mahmud is another Bangladesh player who could attract attention. Recently, he took nine wickets in Bangladesh’s historic Test win against Australia. The 26-year old has good experience in T20 cricket, having played 108 matches and taken 121 wickets.

He has also played in leagues such as the Bangladesh Premier League, T20 Blast and Lanka Premier League. The IPL is a big opportunity for any player, and if Bangladesh players are allowed to enter the IPL 2027 auction, Hasan Mahmud could be another player to watch along with Nahid Rana.

Mustafizur Rahman

Mustafizur Rahman was picked by KKR in the previous auction, but he was later removed from the squad. If he is allowed to register in IPL 2027 auction, he will be available again for all teams to bid for.

The pacer has plenty of IPL experience and has done well in the league, taking 67 wickets in 60 matches. He has played for five different IPL franchises so far.
