Watch: ‘Baby AB’ Dewald Brevis slams Rahul Chahar for four successive sixes in MI vs PBKS game | IPL 2022

Dewald Brevis produced an AB de Villiers encore, slamming Rahul Chahar for four back to back sixes in the 9th over of the Mumbai Indians innings in the MI vs PBKS game of IPL 2022.

You don’t get called ‘Baby AB’ for nothing and Dewald Brevis, the superstar under-19 batter once again showed why he is already ready for the big stage by slamming Punjab Kings and former Mumbai Indians leg-spinner Rahul Chahar for a four followed by four successive sixes to shock fans.

Brevis was at his best in the innings and took off against the leg-spinner, slamming 29 runs in over including the four sixes. Chahar lost his lengths and kept giving half-trackers and quickish leg breaks to Brevis and the South African plundered the spinner for runs.

At 19, Brevis was backed as one of the two overseas players last match and this match he has already shown unmistakable shades of AB de Villiers in his shot-making, standing low and maintaining impeccable balance while taking on the spinner.

Brevis nearly compiled his maiden IPL half-century to give Mumbai Indians a huge boost in the run chase of 199. He was dismissed for 49, caught in the deep off the bowling of Odean Smith. Had he reached the fifty, Brevis would have become the youngest overseas player to hit a fifty in the IPL. After a Shikhar Dhawan and Mayank Agarwal opening stand, Punjab Kings earlier put on 198 on board with Jitesh Sharma producing some late fireworks. While Rohit Sharma started well for MI, it was Dewald Brevis who really pressed on the accelerator with his incredible six-hitting and 29-run over off Rahul Chahar.
