Yashasvi Jaiswal Involved in Heated Exchange With Asitha Fernando
The incident happened on the first day of the match during India’s first innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal had hit Sri Lanka pacer Asitha Fernando for three fours in the over, but Fernando had the final say on the last ball.
Fernando bowled from around the wicket and brought the ball back into Jaiswal. The Indian opener tried to play it through the off side, but got a big inside edge. The ball then went onto the stumps, and Jaiswal was dismissed.
Fernando was pumped up and gave Jaiswal a send off. Jaiswal responded, and the two players exchanged a few words. It looked like normal banter between the two players.
However, things got heated when the two players came very close to each other. They were almost face to face and exchanged a few words. There was also some body contact between them.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Responds to the Criticism
Jaiswal was heavily criticised for his behaviour during the incident, but he was not ready to let the criticism slide. Cricbuzz also shared a video titled Did Jaiswal Cross the Line?
Jaiswal later replied to the Cricbuzz video, in which renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle shared his thoughts and said that the best thing to do in such a situation is to walk away. However, Jaiswal made it clear that people should not judge the incident without knowing exactly what was said between the two players.
“If you don’t know what he said, then please don’t make your judgment. If anyone cross the line, we need to let them know that this India will fight and reply,” Jaiswal said.
In the previous match, Yashasvi Jaiswal was also involved in sledging Niroshan Dickwella during the second innings. Soon after, Dickwella attempted an aggressive shot but lost his wicket.

India Cross 400 as Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel Score Fifties
India ended Day 1 on 300/5 and have now crossed the 400 run mark. They are in a comfortable spot, with Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel both scoring half centuries to strengthen India’s position in the match.
They lost two wickets today. Saransh Jain was dismissed early in the first session, while Pant got out soon after lunch. Pant’s fitness was a major concern after he was hit and retired hurt on Day 1. There were questions about whether he would be able to bat again.
However, Pant returned to the crease and scored a half century before getting out for 63. His return is a positive sign for India, and he is also fit enough to keep wickets for the team.
