Quinton de Kock smashed 80 in just 52 balls to give Lucknow Super Giants a big win.

Quinton De Kock played a valuable innings to take his team, the Lucknow Super Giants, to a fine win against Delhi Capitals on Thursday night. The South African opener was struck by a beamer bowled by Delhi Capitals speedster and national teammate Anrich Nortje. It was during the first ball of the 13th over that this incident occurred.

A 150 kph beamer that left De Kock jolted soon turned into joy for Lucknow Super Giants. De Kock had somehow managed to get bat onto the ball and it finally ended up clearing the boundary. The fielder was up in the ring and the evasive action by de Kock used all of Nortje’s pace as the ball went out of the ground.

The reason the beamer came in was because of the dewy condition by which Nortje’s hand slipped off resulting in a no ball and a six. Nortje would come back strongly and would consider only one run on the free hit delivery by bowling a very good wide yorker which was not an easy to hit ball for De Kock.

Watch: Anrich Nortje’s beamer to Quinton De Kock

Anrich Nortje is already known as one of the fastest bowlers in cricket today and copping a beamer from him at that pace wouldn't have been easy. On the other hand, the match turned into a regulation run chase as Quinton de Kock helped LSG add another 2 points to their name in the points table.
