Deepak Chahar’s enormously high bid of INR 14 crores at the IPL 2022 mega auction shocked all fans. But it seems even those involved closely with the cricketing community aren’t any less surprised, as speedster Jasprit Bumrah expressed his opinion on his bidding sum via a cryptic tweet.

Indian pace allrounder Deepak turned all heads on Saturday (February 12), the opening day of the mega auction process for IPL 2022, by attracting a final bid that nearly touched the 15-crore mark and closing in on wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan as the auction’s most expensive pick.

The end sum seems to have caught even the usually unruffled Jasprit Bumrah, who took to Twitter and sent a cryptic tweet only a few minutes after Deepak’s contract sum was confirmed.

Reacting to things outside is unlike Bumrah but it seems even he couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow to one of his Indian teammates’ auction sum. Especially as the sum was even higher than his own retention prize of INR 12 crores with five-time winners Mumbai Indians (MI).

Now, Jasprit Bumrah is one of the greats of IPL cricket, with 130 wickets and an economy rate of 7.41. He is the rarest of rare commodities in Indian fast-bowling department who is capable of holding his own in all stages of the game. Be it the new ball inside powerplay or the old at the death, Bumrah has been the man to go for MI over the years.

The situation is completely different for Deepak, with whom CSK get swing bowling capabilities with the new ball and handy lower-batting ability but little else. Thus, a sense of huge surprise and shock in relation to his end sum at the bidding war.
