Watch: Rishabh Pant displeased with Khaleel Ahmed after slot ball to Jos Buttler disappears for six

The usually calm Rishabh Pant looked a touch annoyed by the poor ball from Khaleel Ahmed against an in-form Jos Buttler.

Breaking away from his forever funny avatar, Rishabh Pant had his rare moment of displeasure shown on the cricket field this Friday (April 22).

The Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper let his pacer Khaleel Ahmed know he isn’t too amused by a maximum hit against him in an IPL 2022 league game.

Pant shook his head in disappointment, carrying a look of disapproval for a ball from Khaleel against Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Jos Buttler.

Hoping to outdo the rampaging English batter with a slower ball, Khaleel ended up bowling it right in his arc to be sent to the cow corner at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

This was a moment of agony for Rishabh Pant, whose first-choice Indian quick disappeared to the deep mid-wicket region after a poorly delivered slow cutter across the right-hander.

The incident is from the fourth ball of the 6th over in Royals’ first-innings. Looking to end the powerplay on a good note, in-form Buttler found one well in his radar from Khaleel, who had hoped to beat him with a slower ball across his swinging willow.

But rather than evading the outside edge, the ball from Khaleel found the sweet spot on Buttler’s bat and went sailing to the deep mid-wicket region for another maximum in the batter and his team’s kitty.

The delivery from Khaleel and the end result brought about a rare look of frustration on the usually unruffled Rishabh Pant, as he shook his head in disapproval of his bowler’s plan and execution against the explosive English batter.

Standing far behind the stumps, Rishabh Pant looked towards his bowler and gave him a look to suggest he had erred by delivering a ball in contrast to what they had planned for Buttler.

Given the form the Royals opener has been in, any error was bound to be dispatched for a four or six. What would’ve added to the frustration for Pant is the fact that Khaleel had been hit for a six earlier in the over as well.
