The Pakistan spin allrounder took a magnificent catch inside the circle, which gave his team a much-needed breakthrough.
Shadab Khan unleashed one of the better catches seen by a Pakistan fielder, with the spin allrounder nailing a terrific dive to take a one-handed stunner in the ODI series opener against the West Indies on Wednesday (June 8).
Fielding at the short-third region for the right-hand batter Shamarh Brooks in Multan, Khan sprinted to his left and took a memorable catch that would stay with you if you’re a Pakistan fan.
As Brooks tried to slog left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz to the on-side, the West Indies batter got a top-edge and saw the ball balloon to the far left of Khan, placed slightly wider than the normal short-third fielder.
Yet, Shadab Khan was agile enough to cover for the ball and pulled off a magnificent one-handed grab while going through a full-stretched dive.
Shadab Khan’s terrific catch in Multan
As international cricket returns to Multan after more than a decade, fans in Pakistan got to witness an amazing catch on the field, with Shadab Khan nailing the one-handed grab.
The cricketer sprinted across the ball and made a timely dive with his left hand to secure the catch to ensure the departure of a well set Brooks, who was batting 70* off 82 at the time and was in the middle of an important partnership of 154 runs with Shai Hope.
Pakistan desperately needed a breakthrough and it took a special piece of catching from their limited-overs vice-captain for the hosts to build inroads into the visitors’ batting unit.

For Shadab, it was an opportunity once again to showcase his fielding brilliance and the cricketer didn’t let it go, making one of the better dives and one-handed catches one would see.
West Indies would’ve been livid to have lost a wicket at that stage, having seen their top-order duo Hope and Brooks toil hard under scorching Multan heat for over 150 runs after losing opener Kyle Mayers very early into the proceedings.
When the Hope-Brooks duo was expected to further take the game to Pakistan, Brooks played one across the line against the left-arm spinner and gave away his wicket.
