Apart from piling on the runs, Steve Smith is known for the unorthodoxy of his batting style and his antics whilst he is at the crease. Watching the great Australia batter go about his business is fantastic entertainment for the fans.

Smith’s amazing ability to score on both sides of the wicket could get on the nerves of the opposition attacks. But what also must be a cause of ruffled feathers is his unique way of leaving the ball or calling off the run.

Steve Smith has a funny way of asking his batting partner to avoid taking the run where he takes a few steps outside his crease and creates an interesting arc with his bat held up and his voice beaming a big “noooo!!”.

A fan finds similarity with MJ in Steve Smith’s Adelaide antics

For one such instance on Friday (December 17), Steve Smith asked his batting partner Marnus Labuschagne to stick to his ground as a ball from England ace James Anderson got too big on him.

As Smith attempted a cut, the ball from Anderson jumped on him and cramped him for room, leaving the batter no space to carve out a single. Recognising this, the batter told Labuschagne in his own amusing way to not go for the run.

But as always, fans over social media didn’t fail to pounce on the opportunity to create another meme and funny video on Smith’s antics, with one of them hilariously finding similarities between Smith’s “nooo!!” with one famous dance step of pop legend Michael Jackson. The tweet posted by this account with a tune from MJ’s famous ‘Dangerous’ playing at the back went viral.

The D/N Test going on in Adelaide is special for Steve Smith as it sees his return to Australia’s Test captaincy job, nearly three years after the contentious ball-tampering incident in South Africa that led to the suspension of a year on Smith and also ruled him out of captaincy for two years.

But recently, with the elevation of Pat Cummins to Australia’s full-time captaincy job, Smith also got appointed the Test team’s vice-captain. As Cummins was forced to miss the second Ashes Test due to Covid-19 protocols for the series, Smith got the opportunity to lead his country again versus England.
