In a video doing rounds on social media, former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed was seen being cleaned up by a yorker from son Abdullah.
Sarfaraz Ahmed, the Pakistan wicket-keeper and former captain, was seen getting clean bowled by a sharp yorker from his son Abdullah in a street-cricket footage doing rounds on the internet. Surrounded by cameramen and the general public on a local street, the son ran up a few steps and delivered a perfect yorker, shattering the soft-drinks containers which were placed as stumps.
Interestingly, Sarfaraz has stated in the past that he wishes to keep Abdullah away from cricket, citing the tough times he’s endured during his professional career as a major reason.
“My son Abdullah is interested in cricket but I don’t want him to become a cricketer,” he had told ARY Digital’s Shaan Sehwar program. “Actually, being a cricketer, I suffered many things that I don’t want Abdullah to face. It’s human nature. Being a cricketer, I want my brother or son to be selected immediately. Otherwise, it hurts.”

Sarfaraz led Pakistan to the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 title with a win over arch-rivals India at The Oval. It was the country’s first global triumph since their T20 World Cup 2009 win under Younis Khan.
However, the Karachi-born faced several lows thereafter, and was criticised heavily for his captaincy and personal performances, most notably after Pakistan’s disappointing run at the 2019 World Cup in England, where they failed to reach the semis.
He’d subsequently lose his spot in the international setup to Mohammad Rizwan, who, in recent years, has been Pakistan’s premier cricketer across formats. The 35-year-old was a part of the squad at the T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE, but didn’t play a single game during the team’s run to the semi-final.
He last played for Pakistan during the T20I series in Bangladesh in November last year. His last ODI appearance came against South Africa in Centurion in April last year, and he hasn’t played a Test since November 2019.
