Suryakumar Yadav won his exciting battle with Wanindu Hasaranga in the Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians IPL 2022 game.
Heading into Saturday (April 9) night’s marquee IPL 2022 encounter, one of the match-ups to watch out for was between Mumbai Indians’ (MI) spin assaulter Suryakumar Yadav and Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) mystery spinner Wanindu Hasaranga.
With Suryakumar being an excellent player of spin and Hasaranga’s mystery element proving too good for most other batters, there was a great wave of anticipation around their duel in the important league-stage encounter played at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
And in the little while that the Sri Lankan mystery tweaker bowled to Suryakumar Yadav, one would have to say the battle went in favour of MI’s ever-dependable middle-order stalwart, who smashed him for one of the biggest maximums in IPL 2022.
The right-hander hammered Hasaranga for an eye-catching 101-meter six that raised the hopes of MI’s fans, who had felt dispirited until Suryakumar played his knock of resurrection for the five-time winners.
The six lit up the stadium in Pune on the fourth ball of the 17th over in MI’s first-innings. Facing a rare loopy leg-break from Hasaranga, Suryakumar Yadav went down on his knees and unleashed a slog sweep in full force towards the deep mid-wicket region.

Aiming to help MI maximise their full 20 overs from a position of real strife, Suryakumar had given Hasaranga the due respect earlier in the over. But the moment he got one in his radar, the batter didn’t hesitate for a second in going for the maximum.
For fans watching at the stadium and glued to their sets, it was a cause of great excitement as arguably India’s best contemporary white-ball player of spin clobbered the rising Sri Lankan spin force for a big six.

It was one of Suryakumar Yadav’s better innings in MI jersey. Walking into bat amidst a horrible collapse, with MI reduced to just 79 for 6, the skilful batter produced an exceptional knock of 68 not out off just 37 deliveries, including 5 fours and 6 sixes.
When MI looked like finishing with a score around 110-120, the 31-year-old almost singlehandedly took them to a fighting 151/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
